Richard Turner

Managing Director

Richard has over 30 years experience in mechanical engineering and fabrication and more so 20 years experience in the stage engineering industry. Safe Stage was Richards brainchild looking to focus on engaging local skills and supply chains and push the local brand to forefront of what is a global sector. He gained engineering and welding accreditations in his early years and moved into large scale project management some time later. He says ‘people are your biggest assets, look after them and they will look after you’. Richard has always been a keen sportsman, a former boxer and still playing cricket in the Halifax league and now Masters Rugby League. He still gets his hands dirty, fabricating parts and installing the finished product.

Josh Illingworth

Workshop Manager

Josh has 12 years experience in mechanical engineering, welding and fabrication, serving his apprenticeship as an aircraft engineer giving him a wealth of experience in many areas of engineering and electrical work. He studied further to achieve a HNC in mechanical engineering and maintains a key interest in learning new skills. At Safe Stage he is responsible for the organisation, manufacture and assembly of stage engineering equipment. Outside of work he enjoys playing rugby union for a local team, fishing and other outdoor pursuits.

Mark Taylor


Mark started his career in in the theatre industry in 1984 at the tender age of 16 as an apprentice joiner. Swiftly climbing the ranks, foreman joiner, Works Manager & then Contracts Manager before moving on to J&C Joel in 1996 to set up the Installation Department. Being invited onto the board in 2004 and spending 11 years at board level Mark eventually moved on to pastures new.

As an integral part of our team his knowledge is second to none and he delivers consistently impressive results, continuing to develop an extensive network of clients while maintaining the exceptional service that is our hallmark.

Nick Faulkner

Head of Projects

Nick has a wealth of industry experience in all aspects of projects as starting from a young age, Whereby he has grown from onsite installation to running and managing projects, as well as being fortunate to operate in several regions of the world it has meant he swiftly reacts to adapting situations and operating environments whilst understanding product and installation procedures. As head of projects it his role to ensure live and forecasted projects are completed on time and within budget, assist in potential future sales, provide support to the work team and encourage and promote training, enhance business relations with suppliers and contractors whilst overseeing day to day running of the business upholding industry regulations & operating within Health & Safety compliance.   

In his spare time if he is not out exploring with his young family, you will find him on the Rugby field getting beaten up and bruised or following his favorite NFL team the Green bay Packers.
